After the first wolf count in Gujarat which took place on May 8, forest department data has come out showing that only 150 wolves are present in the state. Currently, there are 10 wolves in the Little Rann of Kutch, 30 in the Velavadar sanctuary in Bhavnagar and 30 in the Gir sanctuary.
IANS contacted Gujarat Forest Minister Mulubhai Bera but could not get through. In 2020, only one wolf was seen in the wild donkey habitats of Little Rann of Kutch and Greater Rann of Kutch. This was the first time a wolf was seen.
