The Gujarat State Food and Drug Control Authority (FDCA) seized around 3,360 kg of cumin worth R5 lakh said to be adulterated, from a godown in Mehsana’s Unjha during a raid on Sunday.
A government press release said the attack was carried out based on a tip-off received by the authority.
HG Koshia, the food and drug control commissioner, said a sample of the seized amount of cumin was sent to the food department’s laboratory and legal action would be taken after receiving the report.
“Around 3,360 kg of adulterated cumin worth Rs 5 lakh was seized from Mangalmurti godown on Dasaj road in Unjha from one Jai Dashrathbhai Patel. Forty-eight bags of this cumin of the said amount were seized,” he said. add Koshia.
