Terming it a grave violation of Lahore High Court orders, former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said the police operation at Zaman Park was carried out under the direction of Maryam Nawaz and Rana Sanaullah.
He expressed these views while speaking to reporters outside Zaman Park on Saturday after the police completed the search operation. He also spoke to Imran Khan’s sisters.
“When Imran Khan’s sister, Dr. Uzma Khanum, demanded search warrants, the police did not,” Elahi said. Instead, the police took her husband and children away, she added.
Elahi said the government was using tactics to postpone the elections.
He urged the masses to wake up from slumber to get their rights.
The former chief minister said that the police created havoc in Zaman Park, damaged the properties of Imran Khan and his neighbors. He said the party will initiate contempt proceedings against the police.
Referring to Aitzaz Ahsan’s remarks about the raid, Elahi said, he exposed the lies of the police and the government. He reposed confidence in the judiciary and said the courts would deliver justice to the party.
He lamented that the police beat Imran’s servants and fired rubber bullets at the party workers who tried to stop the illegal act of force.
Meanwhile, a group of 12-member politicians called him out. On the occasion they talked about national political issues. Elahi said the rulers wanted to benefit Nawaz Sharif by declaring Imran Khan a terrorist.
