Cairo: While many strange mummies have been discovered from the ancient Egyptian civilization, one mummy has now been discovered, unopened, which was decorated with 49 precious amulets, including a swirl and a heart made entirely of gold.
The teenager was mummified 2,300 years ago, which has been seen with X-rays and other equipment. Since the Egyptians, like cats, considered whirlpools to be sacred, a golden vortex was made and placed near the heart. It is probably installed as a second heart.
Discovered in 1916, the mummy was kept unopened in a museum in Cairo and was made during the Ptolemaic period around 300 BC. Now Sehar Saleem of Cairo University and his colleagues have opened it up digitally, layer by layer. X-rays, CT (computed tomography) along with hundreds of high-resolution X-rays were taken, and it was found that 49 amulets and precious trinkets of 21 types were also implanted in the body.
Most importantly, a three-centimeter gold heart was implanted in the boy’s chest cavity. An incision is made in the opposite thigh and another implant shaped like two fingers is placed. While on other parts of the body, there are also articles made of gold, precious stones and semi-precious minerals.
It is believed that the heart and other objects are carried for protection and travel to the other world. According to Professor Sahar, the boy’s family must have spent a lot to protect him.
