Men’s Junior Asia Cup: India beats Chinese Taipei 18-0
India began their campaign in the men’s Asia Junior Cup hockey tournament with an 18-0 thrashing of Chinese Taipei in their Pool A match here. Arjit Singh Hundal (19′, 19′, 30′, 59) scored four goals on Wednesday night while Amandeep (37′, 38′, 41′) scored a hat-trick in India’s victory, Hockey India announced in a notification. Captain Uttam Singh (10′, 59′), Bobby Singh Dhami (11′, 46′) and Chandura Bobby Poovanna (‘9′, 54′) scored two each, while Aditya Arjun Lalge (37′), Sharda Nand Tiwary ( 11′), Angad Bir Singh (37′), Amir Ali (51′) and Rawat Yogembar (60’) also scored a goal each.
The Indian men’s hockey team will face Japan in their next match on May 25. The Uttam Singh-led side will face Pakistan on May 27 and play their final pool match against Thailand on May 28.
